priint:cloud core services
priint:cloud exposes a REST API to convert content data given as XML into high-quality PDF documents. We call this the priint:cloud rendering service.
priint:cloud PDF rendering is based on priint's own comet technology. priint comet stepped into the market as a high quality database publishing solution in 2005 and was supplemented by the enterprise level priint publishing server in 2014 - together forming the core of priint:suite family of products.
priint:cloud rendering service combines comet xml projects created and managed with the standard priint tool set comprising comet for Adobe InDesign Desktop and priint workbench with rendering backed by comet PdfRenderer.
The rendering service brings comet PDF rendering into a cloud native stack with all options for a highly scalable rendering solution.
On the input side clients like PIM systems need to sent data in an XML format specified by priint:cloud that is very simple and versatile.
On the output side clients like PIM systems must either
- offer a webhook service to receive notifications from the rendering service containing download links for the generated PDFs, or
- they must offer an HTTP or FTP upload endpoint to where to send the generated PDFs to.
If pictures should be included into the PDF they must be retrievable via URL for the rendering service.
